Creativity is Available to Everyone

I had an interesting experience last week that led to my recording an impromptu podcast on creativity. Truth be told, I have missed talking into my little microphone!

Social media is pretty new to me and I have no idea what happens to the information I put out there. Somehow, a newsletter I wrote about my first season of podcasting was retweeted and seen by a man who is writing a book about creativity. The man, Kevin Cloud, reached out to me and asked if he could interview me. He was especially curious about two things related to my own creativity.

Why had I believed I wasn’t creative most of my life?
What had I gained in life by adding creativity?

Kevin comes to the topic of creativity from a perspective of faith. If you think about the stories from the Bible, God created everything. It makes sense, from this perspective, that all of us have this ability and predisposition to create. However, some people, myself included, were raised to think we weren’t creative. You will love his take on this topic. I can’t wait to read his book when it comes out.

My decision to begin writing and podcasting launched me into creativity in a big way and the results have been incredible. I now realize that creativity is available to everyone. What it adds to your life can be huge. In this podcast I talk about the ways that thinking more creatively has changed my life. I describe my conversation with Kevin Cloud and his unique take on creativity, which is lovely.

If you are someone who was raised to think you weren’t creative, just because your 2nd grade diorama looked like shit, you are not alone! I invite you to listen in and consider that you have tons of creativity inside of you, just waiting to be let out. Happiness and feeling more alive might well be the result!
